Bergen Eickhoff (he/him) is an Intern Pastor at Grace Lutheran Church and a seminary student at Luther Seminary! I am a proud member of the ELCA who loves to explore, critique, and deconstruct how my beloved church and denomination is tied to various forms of oppression. I am openly bisexual and strive to advocate for full LGTBQIA+ inclusion and celebration in the church. I enjoy "queering" biblical texts and elements of Christian worship, and believe that a greater connection between the church, spirituality, and social justice is the future Christ calls us towards. I am happy that you're here to read my blog, but would like to encourage you to read blogs by women, people of color, transgender people, and all around people with less privilege than me. This is the space I use for my religious writing. Here you will find the text of my sermons, religious poetry, essays or reflections on spiritual or religious topics, and ideas for worship or liturgy. While these will all be my views and my opinions, and not reflective of everyone in a congregation that I am serving, I promise to present reasoned, considered, and well-researched beliefs and opinions. This is not a place for my rants or complaints. I am always willing to receive criticism and critique, either publicly or in private. However, I have four precepts that are not up for debate. Black Lives Matter Queer Lives Matter Trans Lives Matter All combinations of these three statements are also true Thank you for giving me your time! I hope that the ideas I share here will spark new thoughts, inspire compassionate action, and remind you that you are loved!
